About the role
The role of Nurse Educator – Forensic Mental Health Services has the responsibility to facilitate nursing and midwifery capability frameworks; champions the Framework for Lifelong Learning for Nurses and Midwives tenants, through operationalising and implementation of strategic plans and policy across West Moreton Health. The role facilitates and champions clinical education leadership within the specialty of mental health.
The Nurse Educator – Forensic Mental Health Services is a Registered Nurse with advanced skills, knowledge and expertise in adult education, clinical development, coordination, and evaluation of nursing education programs. The Nurse Educator can identify learning needs, develop and lead the educational interventions applying evidence-based practice principles and an adult learning framework within the clinical environment. The Nurse Educator demonstrates expertise and leadership skills within domain of education which includes knowledge of contemporary clinical mental health practice and theory, extensive knowledge, and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in adult education and forensic mental health nursing within the current legislative and policy context.
- Experience in undertaking learning needs analysis, developing contemporary and innovative educational materials and utilising adult educational frameworks to engage and foster a learning culture within the clinical environment.
- Demonstrated advanced level of interpersonal and written communication skills to enable accurate, complete, and timely reporting of educational interventions designed to ensure healthcare teams are capable of supporting and delivering patient-centred care
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in working as a nursing educator.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem skills and expert clinical judgement.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
