About the role
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level. The Clinical Nurse provides expert clinical care within the Palliative Care Service, including the Palliative Care Outreach Service that operates from Palliative Care Services at Ipswich Hospital.
The Clinical Nurse provides contemporary clinical leadership and care through multiple roles in Palliative Care in the community settings supporting the general function of the service through the application of best practice principles, education, leadership and portfolio management in the application and role modelling of professional nursing practice standards in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).
The Clinical Nurse role requires a broad knowledge in professional nursing issues and a sound specific knowledge base in relation to caring for patients with life limiting illnesses and their families.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Post graduate qualifications in Palliative Care highly desirable, commitment to attain same if not already obtained.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Palliative Care delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to support and lead quality improvement and research initiatives within the work unit, contributing to the use of evidence based practice to facilitate improved patient outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to educate, inform, counsel and support patients and families on general and clinical information at an advanced level relevant to patient's care.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
