The registered midwife will be expected to work in all roles in the clinic setting including: midwives clinics, booking in clinics and midwives community clinics, midwives diabetic clinic, midwives clinic in the Correctional Centres Midwifery Postnatal Services (home visiting), and backfill in the Early Pregnancy Service and the Clinical midwives in clinic.

About the role
The Registered Midwife supports excellence in midwifery care and patient outcomes, the registered midwife is a clinician who provides direct midwifery care with clinical competence and capability, optimising the perinatal journey of women and their families and enabling woman centred care with enhanced access to services. The registered midwife works in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide woman and family centred, quality, safe patient care.
The Registered Midwife in Antenatal Clinic provides contemporary, evidence based midwifery services and demonstrates competence in the provision of midwifery care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This is evidenced by educational preparation, continuing professional development, adherences to relevant legislation and the context of care.
The Midwifery Postnatal Services team operates a seven-day service. The registered midwife will also be expected to facilitate virtual antenatal classes with women and their support people. All midwives in the clinic work alongside the doctors and offer support when needed. Relevant clinical experience within the specialty of Antenatal/Postnatal Care (minimum 3 years experience) is required.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Contemporary clinical knowledge in the area of Antenatal/Postnatal midwifery practice delivering competent midwifery care in complex situations while providing support to other team members.
- Ability to provide Patient and Family centred care to the patient using best practice and within the standard of practice of a Registered Midwife.
- Ability to communicate to a high standard effectively and engage with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional midwifery care.
- Ability to educate, inform, counsel and support patients and families on general and clinical information relevant to patient's care, accessing the Clinical Midwife when expert advice is required.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and contribution to quality improvement processes.
- Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
