About the role

The registered nurse supports excellence in nursing care and patient outcomes, is a competent clinician who provides nursing care with clinical competence and capability, optimising access to care services. The registered nurse works in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide person and family centred, quality, safe patient care.   

The Registered Nurse, Elective Surgery Operation Bookings Unit, provides contemporary, evidence-based nursing services and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This is evidenced by educational preparation, continuing professional development, adhering to relevant legislation and the context of care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply specialised knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory in surgery and perioperative nursing.   
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
  • Demonstrated management experience and capability with an ability and commitment to practice collaboratively within the and the broader multidisciplinary health care team to deliver high quality care.
  • Demonstrated data analysis; outcome evaluation; service improvement and development skills.
  • Demonstrated management knowledge and skills specifically human resource management and advanced financial literacy within the healthcare environment.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
