About the role

The fitter and turner will be responsible for carrying out efficient and cost-effective mechanical fitting, maintenance and minor new works/projects within the West Moreton Health District.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Experience and knowledge relating to the installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, in single and multi-storey buildings similar to large, major health care facilities, including:
    • Repairs to beds, wheelchairs, trolleys
    • Minor fabrication
    • Maintenance of building plant, including boilers, sterilisers with incorporated steam generators, and other machinery.
  • Ability to prioritise works, projects and timeframes, manage costs and make responsible and accurate recommendations, to produce an effective work output in terms of both quality and quantity, without supervision.
  • Ability to effectively investigate problems, provide options and implement suitable solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team or individually, and experience managing service contractors and/or interacting, communicating and negotiating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Possession of a Certificate III in Engineering (Fitting and/or Turning) or equivalent Queensland recognised trade qualification as a fitter and turner, and a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of duties.
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
