West Moreton Health (WMH) provides health and wellbeing services to more than 320,000 people across the Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Ipswich communities. Its borders stretch to the north of Esk, west of Gatton, east of Ipswich and Springfield, and south of Boonah.

We provide preventative and primary healthcare services, ambulatory services, acute care, sub-acute care, and oral health, mental health and other specialised services, including prison and youth detention health services, and alcohol and other drugs services to the region.  West Moreton is the fastest-growing region in Queensland in relative terms, with a population that is expected to almost double by 2046.

As the Executive Director People and Culture, you will develop and implement innovative strategies relating to the workforce so that WMH has the necessary skills and capabilities to meet current and future health service needs.

Leading a team of approximately 42FTE you will, provide strategic advice to the Executive Team, Health Service Chief Executive and Board, to ensure that human resource management is aligned to service outcomes and strategic priorities and is achieved in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. This includes overseeing and optimising workplace planning, talent acquisition and onboarding, capability development, performance management and recognition, work health safety and wellbeing, and employment relations.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • A strong track record in successfully leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of contemporary and best practice human resource strategies to improve workforce performance, capability and culture in a large government organisation.
  • High political astuteness and a proven ability to identify and effectively manage the sensitivities and viewpoints of multiple stakeholders in a changing and highly regulated environment.
  • Sophisticated consulting, negotiation, and communication skills to influence others, create and sustain effective partnerships, and drive organisational reform and accountability.
  • Values-based leadership, which role models the highest standard of ethical conduct and sets the tone for others to follow.
  • Extensive senior management experience with a demonstrated capacity to develop, lead and manage a large, effective team of staff which continuously improves and adds value to the organisation and for customers.
