About the role
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Surgical Nursing within a hospital setting.
The Surgical Unit operates a seven day, 24 hour service that provides timely access to high quality, evidence based, efficient and safe patient focused care for a variety of surgical specialties. The areas include the following: General Surgery, Colo-rectal, Bilary, Urology, Plastics, Breast, Facial Maxillary and Ear Nose and Throat. The Unit caters for major and minor surgical operations as well as acute surgical admissions. 4F presently oversees the Urodynamic and services and has a strong connection with Prostate Cancer Nurse/ Navigator, CNC stoma, CN Urodynamics and Incontinence Nurse Navigator. We also strive to support, encourage and develop all staff who work within the service ensuring a culture of learning resulting in a capable and educated nursing workforce.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Surgical Nursing delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Exemplifies the West Moreton Health Professional Practice Model by demonstrating person-centred care, professional excellence, safe and effective care delivery, commitment to quality and safety, and collaborative practice.

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
