West Moreton Health provides health and wellbeing services to more than 320,000 people across the Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Ipswich communities. Its borders stretch to the north of Esk, west of Gatton, east of Ipswich and Springfield, and south of Boonah.

We provide preventative and primary healthcare services, ambulatory services, acute care, sub-acute care, and oral health, mental health and other specialised services, including prison and youth detention health services, and alcohol and other drugs services to the region.  West Moreton is the fastest-growing region in Queensland in relative terms, with a population that is expected to almost double by 2046.

The role

We have an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and ambitious individual to join our Executive Team.  As the Chief Operating Officer, you will be required to provide strategic leadership and assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of all clinical and non-clinical support functions within West Moreton Health (WMH).

This will be aligned to the overall strategic direction of the Health Service with the Health Service Chief Executive (HSCE) and members of the Executive Management Team.

Leading a diverse workforce of approximately 3,600 FTE, this role will implement strategic initiatives associated with meeting the health demands of a growing population and will lead the organisation in achieving its vision to create a thriving West Moreton community in which people achieve their best possible health and wellbeing.

About you

As an experienced senior executive in the health service industry with a commitment to the delivery of safe patient-centred services, you will bring:

  • The ability to lead change with agility in a large and complex organisation.
  • Effective leadership in the management of a multidisciplinary leadership team that effectively executes the organisational strategic goals and plan, consistent with time frames, activity and budget.
  • The ability to lead and drive effective operational workforce planning and service delivery modelling and drive a constructive, high performance and respectful workforce culture that reflects the WMH values.
  • Significant experience in delivering successful organisational change and development initiatives.
  • Relevant tertiary and/or business qualifications are desirable and will be highly regarded.
