About the role

The purpose of this role is to support the headspace Consultation Liaison initiative. The role actively supports the seamless and streamlined transition of adolescents and young people requiring a ‘step up' or ‘step down' in care between headspace and state funded MHAOD services. The role supports services for adolescents and young people (12 to 25 years) with mental health needs who are referred to headspace services to be consistent with a no wrong door policy and providing the right service at the right time.

This position involves high level stakeholder engagement skills and is co-located with headspace as much as in possible so as to maximise clinician availability and build essential relationships.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • In a consultation-liaison and clinical in-reach model as a member of a multidisciplinary team which supports the capacity of staff in a headspace service by providing assessment and recommendations for young people and adults with more complex MHAOD presentations.
  • Actively support the seamless and streamlined transition of young people and adults requiring a ‘step up' or ‘step down' in care between headspace and state funded MHAOD services.
  • Develop effective professional relationships and navigate the complexities associated with an interagency partnership, including each agency having different clinical governance, information management and other reporting structures/accountability requirements.
  • Contribute to staff development through clinical practice supervision, professional development activities, performance appraisal, and competency training to ensure professional clinical standards are met.
  • Lead the discipline's contribution, within the service unit, to develop, implement and evaluate clinical activities to continually improve the care of young people and adults at risk with severe and complex mental health problems.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
