Forensic mental health services provide assessment and treatment of people with a mental disorder and a history of criminal offending, or those who are at risk of offending.

About the role
The role of the Clinical Nurse Manager combines the roles of a Nurse Unit Manager and a Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide specialist clinical forensic mental health nursing services and operational leadership to an individual unit within Secure Services.
The Clinical Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse who is an expert practitioner in a specific area of practice. The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of high standards of consumer care in the ward/unit.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge of mental health service imperatives associated with the management of complex consumer care in a Forensic and Secure inpatient environment.
- Demonstrated management and clinical experience and capability with an ability and commitment to practice collaboratively within the Forensic and Secure Services team to deliver high quality care.
- Demonstrated advanced and effective communication, relationship development and maintenance and change management skills.
- Demonstrated contemporary forensic mental health nursing clinical expertise to the level and duration specified in the Mandatory Qualification section.
- Demonstrated skill in management including data analysis, outcome evaluation and service improvement.
- Demonstrated management knowledge and skills specifically human resource management including problem solving, conflict resolution, monitoring staff profile/leave management, management of staff placement including casuals and agency nurses.
- Demonstrates and applies sound knowledge of advanced financial literacy within the healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated legislation / policy knowledge and the ability to develop documents supporting the application of same.
- Exemplifies the West Moreton Health Professional Practice Model by demonstrating person-centred care, professional excellence, safe and effective care delivery, commitment to quality and safety, and collaborative practice.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
