• Ripley Satellite Hospital is a brand-new purpose-built health facility. The Minor Injury Illness Clinic located at the Hospital is a new Model of Service for the West Moreton HHS. Recognition of increased pressure on the conventional Emergency Department has resulted in the development of an innovative, patient centred model of care bringing health care closer to communities.
The Minor Injury Illness Clinic will provide urgent, non-scheduled, episodic care to patients presenting with low acuity injuries and illness NOT requiring traditional Hospital Based Emergency Department intervention or requiring overnight hospitalisation.

About the role
The registered nurse supports excellence in nursing care and patient outcomes, is a competent clinician who provides nursing care with clinical competence and capability, optimising access to care services. The registered nurse works in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide person and family centred, quality, safe patient care.
The Registered Nurse Minor Injury Illness Clinic will ideally have an emergency nursing background and provide contemporary, evidence-based nursing services and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This is evidenced by educational preparation, continuing professional development, adhering to relevant legislation and the context of care.
This new Model of Care will provide opportunity for Emergency Registered Nurses to care for patents presenting with urgent but non-life-threatening injuries and illness triage categories 3 to 5 and offers nuances of an Emergency Department without the overwhelming pressures and burdens of conventional Emergency Nursing.
The Minor Injury Illness Clinic will operate extended hours of operation, 7 days per week. Presentations to the Minor Injury Illness Clinic can be via self/ own transport, Queensland Ambulance Service, or referral from an alternate health care provider.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Contemporary clinical knowledge in Emergency nursing, delivering competent nursing care to patients presenting with minor injury and illnesses whilst providing support to other team members.
- Ability to provide patient and family centred care using best practice and within the standard of practice of a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to effectively communicate to a high standard and engage with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives, and visitors whilst displaying a high level of professional nursing care.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication, and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Ability to educate, inform, counsel and support patients and families on general and clinical information relevant to patient's care, accessing the Clinical Nurse when expert advice is required.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
