About the role

Established in 1987, Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR) is Queensland's premier mental health research centre. With core funding from Queensland Health, a decades-long partnership with The University of Queensland, and researchers embedded within the health system, we are uniquely positioned to connect health service and academic expertise and experiences and to maximise the potential of our research to reduce the impact of mental illness in our communities.

The primary purpose of this position is to undertake research led by the Mental Health Evaluation Stream at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead and conduct research activities related to the execution of an evaluation framework and the maintenance of research ethics and governance.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders, including conducting meetings and undertaking site visits.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative data collection and analyses.
  • Conduct other research tasks assigned that are compatible with this skill level as directed by the stream lead.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced knowledge of health research in clinical and health service settings.
  • Skilled in qualitative research methods used in public health or social science research (e.g. use of analysis packages such as NVivo would be an advantage). Experience of quantitative research methods necessary.
  • Advanced research project management skills, with knowledge of research codes of practice and the ability to apply ethical guidelines in research behaviour.
  • Track record of research productivity including publications and conference presentations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in writing reports, delivering presentations, and tailoring commutation to suit a wide range of stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • A postgraduate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution in health, social or behavioural sciences, or a related field is essential.
