The Southern Region Command, Custodial Operations Division is responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.
About the Role
In this role you will provide advice to management and staff on specific cultural and management issues pertaining to prisoners, contribute to their case management and sentence management and consult with relevant multi-cultural communities and organisations to support family contact for prisoners.

The High Risk Offender Management Unit (HROMU) team based in the Brisbane and Townsville regions is responsible for the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (DPSOA) residing throughout Queensland and the electronic monitoring of offenders on parole. It comprises of the following work groups:
HROMU Strategic Risk and Support, including the Clinical Support Unit;
HROMU Operations SEQ, operating from Wacol
HROMU Central to Far Northern, operating from Townsville and;
The Electronic Monitoring and Surveillance Unit (EMSU), responsible for the Statewide GPS monitoring of DPSOA offenders and offenders subject to Parole Supervision.

The Sentence Planning Coordinator will contribute to the day-to-day operations of Sentence Management Services performing sentence management functions either in a correctional centre or within a hub environment at designated locations. The role is responsible for: engaging with and assessing prisoners, report preparation and writing; and completing necessary administrative tasks associated with lawful detention, court attendance and parole processes. The role will also provide supervision and service delivery coordination for small work units to ensure compliance with timeframes, legislation and departmental policies, procedures and practice directives.

The Senior Case Manager ensures a high level of community safety through the case management of offenders within the community in accordance with their assessed risk and need and maintains high standards of offender assessment practices that facilitate effective supervision and improve reintegration and rehabilitation of highrisk sexual and violent offenders.
Community Corrections is divided into seven regions each with a number of district offices and reporting centres. Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC) is located in Spring Creek, approximately 17 kms from the township of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley. The centre provides high security secure placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security.
Women who enter the criminal justice system often come from lives characterised by sexual, emotional and physical abuse, domestic and family violence, substance addiction and mental health problems. QCS provides a gender-responsive, trauma-informed approach to managing women with the goal of offering an opportunity to truly rehabilitate and escape the cycle that led to crime. It is important to recognise that to change a woman is to change a generation.
