About the role

Undertake designated duties under the supervision of Kitchen Coordinator or Supervisors within the scope of responsibilities allocated to Food Services Officer, ensuring an effective and efficient standard of work performance.

About you

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above.
  • Assist with the production of sandwich/ cold food items as well as the preparation, plating, distribution of patient meals and mid meal beverage service as directed and an ability to interpret patient diet list for ward services.  Ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with approved procedures and quality requirements.
  • Undertake general kitchen duties including but not limited to operation of a flight through dishwasher, patient tray stripping, pot wash duties, pushing trolleys and general cleaning as directed, ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Personnel performing duties of a Food Service Officer must have the physical attributes to effectively and safely undertake manual handling tasks such as lifting, pushing trolleys, plating meals and preparing meal trays and general cleaning duties on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic workplace in accordance with the Food Safety Management System and other approved procedures and hospital policies. Work safely within the organisations recognised OH&S guidelines.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Food Safety Management System are adhered to at all times and codes of practice are implemented within their respective areas of operation. Food service officers are encouraged to provide feedback on Food Safety related issues and contribute positively to the Food Safety team.
  • Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies
