About the Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre (LVCC)

The Lockyer Valley is the picturesque ‘food bowl' of South-east Queensland. The region and surrounding towns offer country living with city convenience which makes it an attractive location to live and work. The new centre is just over 30mins drive from Toowoomba, 42mins from Ipswich or just over 1 hour from Brisbane City

LVCC is being built in response to rising prisoner numbers. When fully operational it will help reduce prisoner density across the system by adding 1536 beds to the state's capacity.  LVCC represents a new way of working for QCS. LVCC will be a modern, purpose-built facility that will support best corrective services practices and enable a specific focus on health and rehabilitation.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Contemporary expert level of knowledge, clinical nursing skills, expertise and experience in contemporary primary health care and correctional health clinical practice related to assessment, treatment and care.
  • Ability to provide specialist clinical advice to communicate, consult, liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders engaged in service delivery to patients. This includes demonstrated clinical skills and ability in the development and maintenance of collaborative partnerships at the individual, agency and inter-sectoral levels.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to initiate, develop, implement and evaluate a range of health support information programs and other resources for staff involved in the care of patients within a primary health model of care.
