About Legal Aid Queensland

Are you an experienced social worker or psychologist? You will be part of a specialist domestic and family violence unit providing intensive, trauma informed, and culturally appropriate legal and non-legal assistance.

This position is temporary until 15 January 2025 with the possibility of extension.

Please note: a tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, social/behavioural sciences, human services, social welfare or a related discipline is required for this role.

What you will do

  • Provide intervention to support legal services provided by the specialist domestic and family violence unit
  • Represent the specialist domestic and family violence unit in external forums
  • Help provide information and training to LAQ staff and external community stakeholders to increase awareness and improve access to services

About you: The successful candidate will have

  • Experience providing crisis counselling, short term assistance and advocacy for clients
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients with complex needs
  • Ability to prepare written material such as reports, briefs, training and other educational materials
