The role
As a Senior Project Officer in the Disaster Management Branch with Queensland Health, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance on emergency incident management policy, planning, and education. Operating within the framework of Queensland Health's core values, you will collaborate closely with senior and supervising staff across Divisions and Hospital and Health Services. Your responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of disaster management projects, utilizing Queensland Health's project management methodologies to ensure effective outcomes.
A key aspect of your role will involve facilitating the development of local education and training content in partnership with subject matter experts, as well as coordinating the scheduling and delivery of educational interventions. You will actively contribute to service development, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in service provision. Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be essential as you liaise, consult, and collaborate to manage expectations, mitigate risks, and drive positive change. Additionally, you will uphold professional standards and ethical decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination policies.
In times of emergency, you will participate in SHECC activations as part of the Incident Management Team, demonstrating your readiness to effectively manage and respond to crises. Your role will also involve preparing high-level correspondence, including ministerial and executive communications, in a timely and professional manner, adhering to departmental guidelines. The successful person
You will have demonstrated:
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team setting to contribute to the development of project plans, deliver outputs and manage competing work priorities to meet agreed deadlines and commitments.
• Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to consult and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to form collaborative solutions and implement appropriate strategic responses.
• Demonstrated ability to work with confidential material and respect confidentiality boundaries.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement initiatives, frameworks, policy, and projects in relation to organisational learning and capability development.
• Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary principles of disaster management.
• Experience in the development and delivery of ICT enabled project training and support, including relevant artifacts, is highly desirable.
• Experience of working in an Emergency Operations Centre is desirable but not essential.
