About us:

The High Dependency Unit (HDU) is a four-bed unit on first floor of Gladstone Hospital and operates with an 80% occupancy. The unit provides acute nursing care to clients until stabilised for stepdown to general wards or prepared for transfer to tertiary centres. The unit is within a Level 3 Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF).

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse provides direct clinical care to the acutely ill patients in the High Dependency Unit -Gladstone Hospital. The Clinical Nurse is supported by Registered Nurses and the Nurse Unit Manager with additional support provided from the Nurse Educator and Clinical Facilitator.

The Clinical Nurse works alongside the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to provide leadership to Registered Nurses delivering direct clinical care to acutely ill patients and in a shift co-ordinator role.

  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvements through attending regular unit quality and safety meetings.
  • Responsible for the professional development of self and others utilizing contemporary practice in the delivery of safe evidence-based patient care.

About you:

Mandatory qualification/s:  Appointment to this position requires proof of Qualification and Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse.

Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements:  While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in critical care would be well regarded. Advanced life support, paediatric life support and ventilator competency is advantageous to the position.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $111,073 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
