As our farm supervisor, you will be required to lead a team of operational staff at the South Johnstone Research Facility to support DAF, External and Commercial projects. The role involves knowledge and experience in leading the team and input into efficient and safe operational management of facilities and research projects in liaison with facility management, science groups and external clients.
You will know you are achieving success in the role when you:
• Undertake agricultural agronomic activities including land preparation, irrigation installation, harvesting, weeding, chemical application, care and maintenance of horticultural crops.
• Establish, enhance and maintain relationships to foster good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Work independently and with other staff, following instructions from supervisor and/or Facility Manager to successfully complete tasks to support research projects.
• Provide Technical Officer Trial support advice and services to DAF and External Clients to support trials.
What you will bring:
There are some qualifications that we see as essential/desirable. You must possess:
• A Diploma or Associate Diploma in Agriculture or Plant Sciences or equivalent.
• A current “C” class drivers' licence is a requirement of this role.
• Experience in farming and/or horticultural crop research
• Ag/Chem spray qualifications
• Forklift Licence
You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problem-solving skills. More than anything, you will have a positive attitude and make a great contribution to our close-knit and connected team.
