About the role
The Thoracic Physician role provides for clinical care in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of thoracic conditions in the areas of Core Thoracic Medicine and Pulmonary Malignancy. The Thoracic Physician provides medical services at a consultant level to patients presenting to the hospital for both inpatient and outpatient services within the Thoracic Program. The Thoracic Physician will be expected to participate in the ward inpatient / consultation service and outpatient clinic service rotating weekly schedule of Thoracic Unit 5 in the restructured shared care model of care in the Thoracic Program. It is expected that there will be involvement in research projects, in the professional development of registrars and junior medical staff and in the education of medical students.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above.
- Have specialised knowledge in the fields of Core Thoracic Medicine and Pulmonary Malignancy.
- Produce appropriate clinical activity, outcome data and quality activities.
- Provide professional support to the Thoracic Program's Fellows, Advanced Trainees, Registrars and Resident Medical Officers.
- Providing inpatient and outpatient care for Core Thoracic and Pulmonary Malignancy patients within the ward inpatient / consultation service and outpatient clinic service rotating weekly schedule of Thoracic Unit 5 in the restructured shared care model of care in the Thoracic Program.
- Active involvement in research activities
- Provision of and participation in appropriate educational activities for:
- Advanced and Basic Trainees
- Nursing and Allied Health staff
- Attendance to administrative duties relating to the proper functioning of the Thoracic Medicine Program. This includes conformity with standard Prince Charles Hospital protocols and procedures and quality activities as requested.
