We are looking for an Extension and Engagement Co-ordinator to join the Varroa Mite Innovation and Resilience Initiative to:
• Coordinate Queensland's Varroa Development Officer work program, whichengages commercial and recreational beekeepers to improve hive health monitoring and manage Varroa mite.
• Provide effective and efficient delivery, and reporting requirements, of Varroa mite capability uplift activities that form part of the National Varroa Mite Response Plan V4.

What you will do (key responsibilities/duties):
As the Extension and Engagement Coordinator (Varroa mite) you will provide services that ensure Queensland achieves its deliverables in the required timeframe as required under the National Varroa Mite Response Plan V4 . Working in tandem with the Queensland Varroa Mite Innovation and Resilience Program your will enhance honey bee biosecurity in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• Apply project management skills to achieve Queensland's outcomes as part of the National Varroa Transition to Management Plan, reporting program progress to the National Varroa T2M Coordinator
• Manage and coordinate the activities of a team of Varroa Development Officers as part of the National Varroa Mite Transition to Management program. This team will be dispersed across multiple locations in Queensland.
• Develop productive working relationships within and across Government departments and external bodies (such as industry and beekeeping community groups) to implement the T2M national strategies and maintain information exchange.
Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) is one of the integral DAF business groups, leading the government's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases threating agricultural prosperity, the environment, social amenity and human health. We achieve this by maintaining access to markets, protecting animal welfare and reducing the risk of contamination from agricultural management.
Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity (PBPI) - The PBPI Program has an integral role in delivering BQ's vision of leading the delivery of innovative, customer focused biosecurity services for Queensland. The Program's goal is to protect Queensland's agricultural industries, environment and communities from plant pests and diseases, and facilitate trade in high quality, safe agricultural products.
