An exciting opportunity exists for an Advanced Clinical Coder role provides expert clinical coding and documentation advice to staff within SCHHS including clinicians, peer clinical coders and other colleagues.  The Advanced Clinical Coder also undertakes clinical coding audit activities to ensure quality and optimisation of coded inpatient data and associated activity.

The Advanced Clinical Coder is acknowledged as having high level clinical coding skills and knowledge, across a broad range of clinical specialties via extensive on the job experience.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Actively undertake targeted audit of clinical coding and associated DRG allocation in conjunction with SCHHS audit plans and identified deficiencies.
  • Contribute to Clinical Coding Services within SCHHS, including the provision of training and development of education material, and actively upskill new and existing Clinical Coders and peer Clinical Documentation Specialists.
  • Support the provision of advice in relation to the Queensland Health Activity Based Funding (ABF) model, sub- and non-acute patients (SNAP), and other clinical coding related matters.

Remuneration value up to $127,235 p.a., comprising salary between $102,492 - $111,516 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO5).
