About the role
Temporary fixed term, part time, 0.5FTE 3 years + 2 years option opportunity to provide high level medical leadership and support the Director of Trauma and the multidisciplinary Trauma Service at RBWH. The Deputy Director will have clinical and administrative roles as part of their portfolios within the Trauma Service. The clinical role of the Deputy Director will align with their area of training and specialisation and they will have the opportunity to work within their defined clinical scope of practice. They will also work collaboratively across departments and services, particularly within the Division of Surgery and Perioperative Services, Departments of Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesia, and Intensive Care Unit, to provide specialist trauma expertise and advice for patients of all surgical and medical departments, in conjunction with the relevant surgical/medical specialists and the broader interdisciplinary trauma team.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- The opportunity to work within your defined clinical scope of practice, providing care to trauma patients in the ETC, operating theatres, ICU, wards and after discharge from hospital, rehabilitation centres and outpatient clinics.
- Assist in leading the development of policies, procedures and guidelines related to trauma and in particular, develop and ensure compliance to clinical practice guidelines which are appropriate to the Queensland (where the service is state wide) and Metro North patient cohort, based on the best available evidence.
- Assist the Director,Trauma Service in planning and strategic vision formation for the Trauma Service and optimal provision of trauma patient care within the Hospital and Health Service
- Display high level of interpersonal skills in communication, consultation and negotiation within the multi-disciplinary management team with all staff across the service.
