The aim of this role is to:

  • Provide a high level of customer service to consumers, internal clients, stakeholders and industry groups. Where appropriate provide relevant technical and legislative advice relating to plumbing and drainage matters.
  • Manage a case load that will include, case delegation within team, conducting reactive and proactive investigations, preparation of detailed reports and arranging expert assessments/determinations of technical matters.
  • Lead, support & provide direction to team. This will include the coaching and mentorship of direct & indirect reports within QBCC Brisbane office & regions.
  • Partner with & assist internal training support to deliver specifically tailored plumbing and drainage content to the QBCC contact service centre.
  • Mediation in relation plumbing and drainage compliance or disciplinary disputes.
  • Administer the regulatory provisions of the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018 (PDA) and regulation, QBCC Act and Building Act; including issuing disciplinary action against licensees. Interpret and apply the requirements of the PDA, the Plumbing Code of Australia and associated Australian Standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and statements for disciplinary proceedings and give evidence before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and other Courts.
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly Plumbing & Pools unit team leaders meeting by collating relevant weekly operational updates, as well as providing weekly results on team KPI's.

Candidate Attributes

  1. Demonstrated ability to conduct and manage complex investigations.
  2. Demonstrated ability to apply contemporary plumbing standards, practices, legislation and codes within the plumbing and drainage industry, including demonstrated ability to provide expert advice to plumbing and drainage industry and apply this to relevant issues, policies and procedures.
  3. Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality outcomes through your leadership and management skills. Have high level interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and mediation skills with an ability to formulate high level written reports which are succinct, factual and clear.High-level stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain operational networks and manage conflicting priorities.
  4.  High-level written and verbal communication, mediation and negotiation skills, including the ability to present complex messages clearly and concisely.

Position is located in Brisbane and the successful candidate will need to enter into a Flexible Work Arrangement upon commencement to reflect the office location you are seeking to work from. If working from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane office will be required regularly (frequency to be negotiated with successful candidate) to fulfil operational business needs
