Operating from within the Policy, Industry and Partnerships branch of the Tourism Division and under the direction of the Director you will:

  • Leading the development and implementation of initiatives related to Indigenous tourism that align with the whole-of-government tourism industry strategy, and complement the Queensland First Nations Tourism Plan and other government strategies and plans related to the development of Indigenous businesses and/or Indigenous tourism
  • Manage delivery of the Our Country Advisory Service, managing and mentoring the team delivering this service, including officers co-located in Indigenous organisations
  • Contribute to the design, development, promotion and delivery of projects, programs and initiatives, and business support tools that drive First Nations tourism business development, growth and resilience, drawing on your experience working in Indigenous tourism and/or working with Indigenous businesses
  • Lead specialised projects for the unit, where required, that support First Nations tourism, the Queensland tourism industry and Traditional Owners interested in supporting tourism development in their community
  • Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks with senior internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, industry, business associations, peak bodies, Indigenous businesses, Prescribed Body Corporates, Traditional Owner groups and other key stakeholders
  • Provide timely, high-level briefings, submissions, reports, correspondence, and presentations on a range of Indigenous tourism policy and program issues to Senior Management, the Minister, other government agencies and key stakeholders
  • Contribute to development and implementation of the Whole-of-Government tourism industry strategy in partnership with the tourism industry and other government agencies
  • Participate in and lead (as appropriate) multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver timely responses to tourism industry related programs and initiatives
  • Represent the department at interdepartmental and interagency meetings and forums as required
  • Contribute to a workplace culture based on values and behaviours which maintain a positive work environment that is safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive.
