The Opportunity:
This role sits within the Technical Support Assets Team in the Coastal and Islands Region. As the Ranger Assets OO5, you will work in a small team to successfully identify, develop, plan, and implement the Regions priority infrastructure and asset requirements. Under the guidance of the Ranger In Charge Assets, you would assist in providing the management of the maintenance, plant and equipment and fleet programs in each management unit in the Great Sandy and Moreton Bay areas, supporting the operational staff to achieve these programs.

In this role, you'll find:
Managing modern and heritage assets on islands presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities that require a blend of strategic planning, adaptability, and creativity. Due to their geographic isolation and limited resources, rangers must navigate a complex array of logistical issues. This includes everything from arranging transportation for goods and contractors to managing the higher costs of goods and services.

Your planning skills will be important in juggling and meeting competing priorities, while your ability to engage and communicate within the team and the management units will be the key to achieving outcomes in a busy and changing environment. A workday may involve transitioning from office to field at short notice whilst balancing other priorities.

On the flip side, assisting the island teams offers a distinctive cultural and natural environment that is highly appealing for its dynamic nature. The natural beauty, seclusion and cultural significance of the Great Sandy and Moreton Bay islands attracts thousands of visitors every year seeking unique experiences. Asset management in these environments requires that assets are maintained so the balance of community enjoyment does not come at the expense of the natural resources and ecosystem.

You'll need:
• Resilience, initiative, tenacity, and confidence in your ability to achieve tasks in a busy and diverse environment.
• To work well within a team, and communicate effectively with your peers, operational staff, and members of the public such as contractors.
• Well-developed engagement skills, including actively listening to others and sharing information with your team.
• To gain an understanding of the organisations vision, priorities, and business objectives to develop work plans by determining milestones, schedules and resources in line with annual work programs and organisational priorities.
• The ability to manage and evaluate competing tasks, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling and reorganising work allocation to reflect changes in priority.
• Demonstrated IT skills such as utilising different databases and programs including financial and project management systems including Excel.
• Ability to use a range of processes, tools, and techniques to effectively manage a project or program to achieve milestones and deadlines.
