About Us:

The staff and students at James Nash State High School and Tin Bay Can State School are committed to the work of reconciliation and are continuing to learn how to best and most respectfully teach the history and culture of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This is being achieved at James Nash SHS through the appointment of First Nations school leaders, the hosting of cultural events at the school and within the Gympie community, and our engagement with QATSIF and the Beyond the Broncos Girls Academy.

Tin Can Bay State School is proud to be working closely with the local Gubbi Gubbi community to enhance cultural inclusivity and celebrate Indigenous heritage. We are in the early stages of consulting on the development of a language and culture program within our school. Additionally, we have successfully secured grants for Indigenous artwork, signage, a yarning circle, and ongoing community consultations. We are seeking a Community Education Counsellor to join our team and support the implementation of these exciting initiatives, fostering a strong cultural connection and a rich learning environment for our students.
