What's on offer?
Permanent Full-time, 80 hours per fortnight. Hours per fortnight negotiable.

Remuneration package of up to $536,916 p.a., comprising base salary range of $210,332 - $266,677 p.a., (full-time) (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (L18-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%), attraction and retention incentive allowance, regional and rural attraction allowance, motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance and leave, private practice arrangements, communications package, professional indemnity cover and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable).

Other employment benefits include: on-call and shift allowances (if applicable), flexible working arrangements, access to corporate discounts, staff wellness programs, employee assistance program and attractive salary sacrificing options.

Assistance with relocation expenses may also be available.

About the role
The incumbent will be expected to be proficient across all aspects of general Urology. The Urology department has a high workload and performs over 600 operations and 500 outpatient procedures every year. The department is well equipped for all open and laparoscopic procedures.

Townsville University Hospital (TUH) has recently embarked on a partnership with the Mater Hospital Pimlico regarding Robotic Assisted Surgeries and is currently encouraging use of this facility for both public and private patients. TUH will also be the second kidney Transplant site for Queensland, with the aim to be operational within the next 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive surgical services across a wide range of pathologies and patient age within the Department of Urology.
  • Provide professional leadership in respect of the Urology Department activities and in particular, your specialty team(s).
  • Manage the delivery of patient care in the area of Urology including management of complex clinical situations.
  • Lead education, research and training activities across your team(s), ensuring that staff are supported.

Requirements

  • Qualified as a medical practitioner with specialist qualifications and registration, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in the appropriate discipline.
  • Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained.
