Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
The Allied Health/Health Practitioner cadet performs a range of clinical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal full-time tertiary studies necessary to acquire an entry level (mandatory) qualification for employment.
Cadets are employed as a temporary part time employee to gain experience during their 12 weeks of work placement which is scheduled to fit around their full-time study commitments during the calendar year.
Your key responsibilities
- Successfully complete (pass) all academic and practical requirements of their tertiary study while employed as a cadet.
- Complete the required 456 hours (60 days) of paid work placement within a 12-month period.
- Perform basic duties under the direction and clinical practice supervision by your allied health/health practitioner, with the quality of work output closely assessed.
- Perform a defined range of clinical assessment and treatment tasks as delegated by the allied health professional/Health Practitioner and work under their supervision.
- Undertake supported clinical reasoning and provide recommendations for care planning as confirmed or modified by the supervising allied health/health practitioner to allocate subsequent clinical activities.
- Initiate changes to treatment programs under the supervision of the allied health professional/Health Practitioner using results from standardised assessments, decision support tools, clinical pathways and/or patient guidelines.
