About us

The Parliamentary Education and Liaison team is part of the Chamber and Education Services area in the Assembly and Committee Services Division and performs a range of services. The Education and Liaison team is a small but mighty unit of four full-time equivalent staff and several temporary part-time and casual parliamentary attendant staff.

Your primary duties as First Peoples Liaison Officer will be to

  •  Perform a liaison role to strengthen relationships between the Parliament and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland;
  • Provide advice on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols;
  • Deliver parliamentary educational activities for Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and
  • Contribute to developing and delivering the Parliamentary Service's Reconciliation Action Plan.

 You are a team player who can collaborate effectively with your colleagues to achieve shared goals, as well as an independent worker who can take charge of your own tasks and deliver high-quality results.

You are also a flexible and adaptable professional who can respond to changing needs and priorities, and a confident speaker who can communicate clearly and persuasively with various stakeholder.

You will be delivering the Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth Parliament and Junior Indigenous Youth Parliament programs.

Your role will involve travel across the State, sometimes by driving. A valid Class C driving licence is essential for this role.
