This exciting opportunity is available to recently graduated persons who are interested in working across water resource management. You will be involved in undertaking research, analysis and providing authoritative policy and analytical advice and guidance on complex issues facing Queensland's non-urban water sector.
You will provide policy support by undertaking targeted research and analysis and coordinating information and advice and may work on data projects including analysis of large data sets and establishing processes to correct data inaccuracies and inconsistencies.

The Role
As a Policy Officer within Water Resource Management, you will be involved in undertaking research, analysis and providing authoritative policy and analytical advice and guidance on complex issues facing Queensland's non-urban water sector.
You will provide policy support by undertaking targeted research and analysis and coordinating information and advice and may work on data projects including analysis of large data sets and establishing processes to correct data inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Provide support and researched information on matters to do with the development of policies, practices and legislation relating to non-urban water resource management including policy initiatives under the Rural Water Futures Program.
• Prepare correspondence, sections of reports and briefing papers, and perform policy analysis as directed.
• Assist with preparation of policy papers, procedures, guidelines, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions, Governor-in-Council documentation, and other correspondence as required.
• Assist in the management of the Water Act 2000 referral panel governance and processes.
• Analyse large data sets that support the operation of the water business, and develop methods, systems and procedures to correct data inconsistencies.
• Liaise with experts from various disciplines to inform development of water management frameworks and policy.
• Maintain knowledge of National and State Government strategies, policies and legislation and statutory requirement relating to non-urban water resource management.
About You
• The applicant will require, or be undertaking, a Bachelor of Laws Degree, Bachelor of Economics or another degree qualification in a field that is relevant to the Key Duties and Accountabilities.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
