An exciting opportunity exists to join our team of Rangers on Lamington National park.
Rangers ensure that Queensland's national parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all Queenslanders. This means Rangers undertake a wide variety of tasks to achieve this including carrying out maintenance on assets, natural resource and cultural management, fire management, weed and pest control and so much more.
The work is mostly field based and can be physically challenging and includes working in remote outdoor environments and rough terrain so a high level of fitness is required. You will require skills with tools and additional skills with chainsaws and other machinery are desirable. The work can also include duties such as cleaning of amenities. You will also be required to undertake some administrative tasks and duties using computers and other technology. You will work with a wide variety of people including the general public and both internal and external stakeholders so great communication skills and personal presentation are a must.
It is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted manual driver's licence. You will need to provide a copy of your driver's licence, with the original sighted prior to engagement. Employees are required to drive government vehicles, including four-wheel drives as a part of their day-to-day and field work.
Whilst not mandatory, it is highly desirable that the successful applicant already holds one or more of the following accreditations and / or certificates. Training will be provided by the Department to the successful applicant in order to attain the required accreditations / certificates.
- Chainsaw operator's accreditation (Level 1 or 2 certificate)
- Senior First Aid certificate
- Firefighting Operations (Fire Crew) Level 1 certificate
- Unrestricted Agriculture Chemical Distribution Certificate
- Departmental Law Enforcement accreditation (Level 1)
