The Senior Communications Officer role will have strong understanding and proven ability to manage end-to-end delivery of large-scale communication strategies n campaigns and engagement activities. You will be proactive, self-motivated and able to work well autonomously and as part of a small team.

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decisionmaking capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide strategic communication advice to a wide range of departmental clients.
• Oversee the delivery of community education activities, including the development of a community education strategy that prioritises the use of
technological innovation to share information and resources with stakeholders.
• Build relationships and take a proactive approach with the department's key business areas and senior staff.
• Deliver high-level marketing and communication services, to business areas including communication strategies, project plans, website management, internal and external content management and creation, collateral review and events management.
• Write, edit and coordinate a wide variety of content across internal and external channels
• Create and post content to the department's social media channels.
• Prepare business cases, memos, reports and briefing notes as required
• Work closely with a range of communications service providers, ensuring budgets, deadlines and corporate identity are adhered to, including the ability to provide responsive solutions to urgent requests.
• Provide support to other members of the team and work closely with other service provider areas within the department, such as online, digital and media teams, to ensure smooth delivery of all messaging.

There are no mandatory qualifications required to undertake this role, however a tertiary qualification in marketing, advertising, communication, or a related field will be highly desirable. Hands-on experience using website, social media and desktop publishing software is highly desirable, as is an understanding of graphic design.
