The Ear, Nose and Throat Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba are looking for a Visiting Specialist - Laryngology Surgery to join their team. This role provides specialist Laryngology Surgery clinical care to patients and assumes overall responsibility for patient care. Services provided include:  Provides specialist services at Metro South Hospital and Health Service,  Provides inpatient care, including participating in the on-call roster  Undertakes elective and/or emergency surgery / procedures  Provides inpatient consultations as requested  Provides outpatient consultations

About the Role

  • This role reports to Chair, Ear, Nose and Throat Unit..
  • This position fulfils accountabilities and responsibilities in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of interprofessional collaboration and leadership through understanding the role and the roles of others in the interprofessional team leveraging this knowledge to establish and meet client goals and inform service direction.

Clinical and leadership skills

  • Provision of services to patients in accordance with the standards of the discipline and the ethics of the profession, and that are consistent with the Clinical Services Capability Framework of the relevant facilities within the Health Service
  • Specific duties may involve ward rounds, outpatient services (including Telehealth and outreach services, if appropriate), procedural work, multidisciplinary team meetings and collaboration with other medical teams or other professional streams.
  • Enable clinical pathways and early discharge procedures.
  • Document relevant clinical information clearly, concisely, accurately, and appropriately.
  • Ensure appropriate handover of patients, as needed.
  • Role model desired standards of behaviour, promoting a positive attitude, enthusiasm, respect and support of other staff, effective communication and ethical decision making.
  • Encourage consumer participation in treatment and care aimed at achieving demonstrable improvement in service outcomes.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team functioning, positive patient outcomes and the achievement of departmental objectives.
