Your role will include:
- Answering Triple Zero (000) emergency calls for service from the Qld public in challenging situations
- Accurately recording important time critical information from callers
- Identify and allocate resources to life threatening or significant situations
- Accurately relay information to operational police officers
- Answering routine telephone requests for assistance from the public
Police Communications Operators are required to work shift work (24/7), including weekends and public holidays.

Please submit a written statement of no more than 2-pages outlining your suitability for the position by addressing the key accountabilities, a typing certificate demonstrating a minimum 40-WPM with 98% accuracy, and your updated resume which includes a minimum of two referees with their current contact details, one of
which, must be your current supervisor.

The Communications Operator Course consists of 3 phases:
Phase 1 - Foundations (4 weeks): Onboarding and basic Incident creation.
Phase 2 - Call Taking (7 weeks): Receiving 000 phone calls and complex Incident creation.
Phase 3 - Dispatch (7 weeks): Continuous monitoring, channel control, officer safety, dispatching, updating and finalising incidents.
Each phase consists of classroom-based training as well as a consolidation period in the live environment where participants are supported by an experienced Communications Operator.
