About the role
The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker – Child & Family Health is to deliver high level cultural advice and professional and culturally specific support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children accessing the child & family health and development services, including their family, carers, and social/cultural support networks.
The aim of the role is to achieve improved health and developmental outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children accessing child & family health and child development services, as per the objectives of the West Moreton Health First Nations Health Equity Strategy 2022 – 2025.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and ability to develop effective partnerships within the Health Service and external stakeholders.
- Cultural lived experience and understanding of the cultural factors and histories that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
- The ability to provide effective cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children & families accessing community child & family health and child development services.
- Ability to support multidisciplinary teams to improve their understanding of the Social, Emotional and Well-Being needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
- The appropriate clinical skills for the delivery of evidence-based health assessments, health promotion, education and illness prevention activities and primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
