About the role
- Provide competent level Social Work clinical services within the Medical and Service Lines and may be rotated through other HP3 roles in Surgical or Critical Care, Women's and Children's areas.
- The social worker will engage with patients/families/carers across the acute and sub-acute wards (e.g. general medical, surgical, oncology and paediatrics) and outpatient areas to optimise their psychosocial outcomes and to achieve maximum benefits from health care services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Apply increasingly independent Social Work clinical decision-making skills under the clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician, commensurate with level of knowledge and expertise.
- Develop effective professional relationships and demonstrate a competent level of advocacy, negotiation and conflict management skills between patients and their families, other health professionals and stakeholders to inform/ influence clinical outcomes and/or encourage behavioural change.
- Provide clinical practice supervision, education and support to less experienced practitioners and students to ensure the maintenance of clinical standards.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with other social work practitioners, professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders regarding social work service delivery.
