The Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers, Portfolio Management Office. Working within the Water Act Initiatives Branch, provides a rare opportunity to be involved in business improvement that will underpin how rural water resources are accessed, used, and managed by Government, water users and the community into the future. This role provides support to the multiple functions of the Portfolio Management Office.

As the Project Officer within the Portfolio Management Office, you will be a member of a fast paced, progressive, and fun team that works collaboratively to achieve business improvement objectives. As a newly formed team, together we have the opportunity to build a strong foundation, test out innovative ideas and be creative in how we can achieve high quality outcomes together.

 

Working within the Portfolio Management Office team, this position will:

  • Assist with the support planning, coordination, development, and implementation of initiatives for the successful delivery of the Department's Rural Water Futures Program
  • Support Business Analytics, Change and Communications, Program and Project Planning, Governance and Assurance discipline activities.
  • Assist with the coordination of reporting on program and key projects to the board and management ensuring consistency with the Departments' program governance standards.
  • Undertake tasks associated with procurement and contract management processes for the RWF Program.
  • Develop and maintain the reporting and governance structures to manage the Program finance, assurance and other administrative processes.
  • Prepare submissions, correspondences, and briefing papers for forums such as board, senior management, industry, councils and for the Minister.
  • Undertake secretariat functions for the Project and Program Board.
  • Contribute to the development of, and ongoing maintenance of the Programs' operational management systems.

 

Additional Role Requirements include

  • Travel to the Brisbane office and/or to regional office locations will be required on an adhoc basis to allow for attendance in team meetings and/or governance meetings etc.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Program or Project Management would be highly desirable.
