About Us

The Heavy Vehicle Policy team leads initiatives on heavy vehicle regulatory reforms, road manager policies, and schemes that significantly impact Queensland's road freight industry and communities.

As Director, Heavy Vehicle Policy, you will guide your team to develop and deliver strategic policy and legislative outcomes. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in driving initiatives and providing high-level advice to senior leaders, including the Minister and Director-General.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Heavy Vehicle Policy Team to deliver balanced policy and legislative frameworks prioritizing road safety, infrastructure integrity, and industry efficiency.
  • Set strategic direction for reforms, policies, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expert policy and legislative advice on heavy vehicle reforms to senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Exercise delegations related to heavy vehicle policy and scheme operations.
  • Represent TMR on committees, projects, and consultations, driving key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with national bodies, industry groups, and government agencies to achieve policy objectives.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams, drive change, and implement reforms.
  • Strategic thinking and collaboration skills to define and deliver key outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in Heavy Vehicle legislative interpretation and application.
  • Experience in evidence-based decision-making, forward planning, and policy improvement.
  • A track record of leading policy reform and driving efficiencies in governance and risk.
