The Senior Geoscientist role in the Geological Survey of Queensland delivers high quality outcomes through office-based, core store and field-based research – leading projects, maintaining and developing new collaborative relationships, and communicating project outcomes to GSQ stakeholders. Facilitate mineral exploration, discovery and development of mineral resources in Queensland by applying advanced scientific methods to characterise and map mineral deposit footprints.

About the role:
In this role you will:
• Lead, participate in, and contribute to complex scientific and technical projects in various roles (project leader, team member, sole contributor).
• Provide timely expert geoscience-related advice to Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ), the department, industry, academia, and the public.
• Monitor developments in the economic geology science and Queensland's mineral and energy resources industry, to maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure high-quality advice.
• Write and edit high-quality technical reports, scientific papers and administrative briefs.
• Assist in managing GSQ's geoscience and resource databases and collaborate with the Geoscience Information Group to compile technical products.
• Develop professional networks and consult with various stakeholders (peers, clients, industry, community groups, and agencies) to achieve strategic goals.
• Raise GSQ's profile and promote project results to attract exploration investment by participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars.
• Liaise with state and federal geological surveys and participate in national programs as required.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to business improvement initiatives within the Geological Survey of Queensland.

What we're looking for:
• A degree qualification in Geology, Earth Sciences or similar is a mandatory requirement for this role.
• A manual driver's license is desirable for this position.
