The Queensland Government invites Expressions of Interest from suitably skilled people interested in serving as a Board Director of the Wet Tropics Management Authority. Two Director positions are available. Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples and First Nations Peoples are strongly encouraged to apply for all Director positions.
Persons with relevant scientific, land-use planning and wet tropics ecosystem expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Wet Tropics Management Authority (the Authority) is responsible for ensuring that Australia's obligations under the World Heritage Convention for the protection and management of the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area are met.
The Authority is established under the Wet Tropics World Heritage Protection and Management Act 1993.

Board Directors have a range of important roles including:
• overseeing the functions of the Wet Tropics Management Authority as outlined in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Protection and Management Act 1993
• setting the objectives, strategic direction and policies for the Authority and ensuring the Authority performs its functions in a proper, effective, and efficient way
• promoting the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area locally, regionally, nationally and internationally and involving the community in the management of the Area.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest is 31 January 2025. Please note public sector officers of Queensland or the Commonwealth are not eligible to be appointed as Board Directors.
