An exciting opportunity exists for a psychiatrist with an interest in working with young adults. We are looking for a psychiatrist to lead our Headspace Consultation Liaison program, and our newly founded Early Psychosis program. The successful applicant will work in a part time position within a multidisciplinary team to deliver community services to young people aged 13 years and over. This is an opportunity to work in a progressive and rapidly developing area of mental health.

About the role

Position of Staff Specialist/Consultant Psychiatrist will support the development, clinical governance and clinical activity within the Adult Mental Health Service, at West Moreton Hospital and Health Service (West Moreton HHS) with a focus on the needs of consumers presenting with acute mental health needs.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated extensive knowledge, expertise and skill in the assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness in a specialised mental health service setting.
• Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills including the ability to provide high level clinical leadership, advice and direction within a multidisciplinary team and to relevant stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to leading mental health recovery model of care, evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement to enhance service delivery outcomes.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of National and State Mental Health directions and legislation relevant to the provision of specialist mental health services.
• Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective training to junior medical staff.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
