In the role of Principal Advisor (Indigenous Strategy) some of your responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to the strategic direction for Indigenous Strategy within the department to develop and promote key priorities.
• work collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders in leading and supporting initiatives that advance the department's Indigenous Strategy.
• Work with the Director of Indigenous Strategy team to achieve appropriate outcomes through the management of finance, human resources and outputs to ensure strategic and operational performance targets are met.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain strong and effective relationships through a high level of interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with the ability to successfully lead, influence positive culture.
• Conduct research, monitor government decisions, develop options and provide recommendations on matters relevant to the First Nations Engagement team and Indigenous Strategy Unit.
• Lead the analysis and development of policy, legislative, and business solutions to support the advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Co-ordinate activities and/or projects to ensure the effective delivery of policy outcomes.
• Prepare and review executive-level briefing notes, ministerials, reports, submissions, business cases and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards.
• Lead and contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of the Indigenous Strategy teams activities through the monitoring of the program of works, identification, validation and implementation of business improvement strategies and change initiatives.
• Provide coaching and support services to ensure fit for purpose solutions are delivered to the business and ensure delivery on whole of government and business unit priorities.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

Desirable qualifications and conditions
• Queensland Drivers licence required for the role as intrastate travel will be required.

To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate experience with legislation and policy frameworks, as well as in preparing complex documents like policy papers and reports. Your persistence in overcoming obstacles and a proven track record of successfully engaging business areas to embrace change will be key to your success.

This position is located in Brisbane, however other locations may be negotiated with the suitable candidate.
