The Queensland Building and Construction Commission is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Investigator to lead and conduct complex investigations into breaches of legislation regulated by the Commission. In this role, you will be responsible for managing investigations, providing expert analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage a team of professionals tasked with carrying out various compliance functions, contributing to the effective regulation of the building and construction industry in Queensland. Key Outcomes and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and undertake protracted and complex investigations into breaches of legislation regulated by the QBCC, ensuring effective resolution and compliance outcomes.
  • Assist the Director Compliance and Enforcement in managing and operating the compliance team, including providing expert advice and guidance on investigation strategies and decisions.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, codes, and industry standards to guide the team and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare detailed papers and reports for QBCC committees and statutory bodies, offering in-depth analysis and updates on ongoing investigations.
  • Provide in-person updates to statutory bodies and stakeholders, keeping them informed of investigation progress, outcomes, and any emerging issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and manage complex investigations that result in both criminal and administrative outcomes, contributing to the enforcement of industry standards.
  • High-level experience in developing, implementing, and managing organisational initiatives aimed at improving workplace processes and compliance efforts.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment to achieve successful outcomes and drive continuous improvement in compliance practices.

  • Strong understanding of legislative frameworks and regulatory standards within the building and construction sector.

The position is based in Brisbane, with the option to work from a regional office under a Flexible Work Arrangement. If based in a regional office, regular travel to the Brisbane office will be required (frequency to be determined with the successful candidate) to support operational needs.
