The Training and Skills Pathways team within the Investment Division is responsible for the state-wide management and coordination of a range of grant programs and services ensuring accessibility and participation in the vocational education and training (VET) sector and the labour market. This includes administering the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

About the role

The Program Officer will be responsible for administering and managing access and equity programs that support disadvantaged Queenslanders. Working within a collaborative and supportive team, the role focuses primarily on contract administration for projects funded under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. The ideal candidate will have experience in program and contract management, strong communication and engagement skills, and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

As the Program Officer, you will

  • Assist in the effective administration and delivery of government VET programs and strategies including programs funded under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
  • Liaise with community-based organisations and DTET regional officers on new and existing contractual or program requirements.
  • Utilise database and information systems to organise and extract data to support performance monitoring.

The position requires an applicant who can:

  • Manage complex workloads, meet deadlines and commitments and complete tasks within a tight timeframe independently and within a team.
  • Provide advice and support to senior management on sensitive and contentious matters associated with a range of stakeholders including community organisations, social enterprises, training providers, industry bodies and other government stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, liaise, consult and build strong relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders on new and existing contractual or program requirements and responsibilities.
  • Interrogate, extract and organise data from departmental databases to support the performance monitoring, statistical analyses and reporting functions of Training and Skills Pathways.
