This is an exciting leadership professional learning opportunity offered by the Education Futures Institute (EFI) for Queensland Department of Education staff. This 12-month program supports and empowers middle leaders with targeted professional learning to build expertise in leading
teaching and learning in their schools.
The program develops and strengthens the knowledge, skills and dispositions of middle leaders to excel in their role and positively impact student achievement, engagement and wellbeing. The flagship Middle Leader Program is organised into
cohorts based on participants' levels of experience in middle leadership. Successful applicants will be offered a position in a cohort alongside participants with similar levels of experience.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.
The Education Futures Institute is a key system initiative in the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student, to empower departmental staff, educators, school and system leaders to build professional expertise through high quality, targeted capability development across their career. The Education Futures Institute delivers a suite of flagship programs that are comprehensive professional learning experiences targeted to career junctures. Program design is underpinned by professional standards and contemporary research aligned to the Department of Education's current and emerging strategic priorities and workforce needs. Programs aim to empower Queensland state school staff, educators and leaders and will be co-designed and delivered with internal and external partners, including academic, tertiary and industry leaders.
The flagship Middle Leader Program provides participants with the opportunity to develop their expertise in leading improvement through contemporary educational research, contextualised leadership experiences and professional networks and mentoring opportunities.
Over the 12-month duration of the program, participants will engage in face-to-face intensive phases, mentoring (including site visits), network learning opportunities and self-paced learning modules. Future cohorts will commence the program in Term 3, 2025 (Cohort 3) and Term 1, 2026 (Cohort 4). This application is for middle leaders with less than 4 years of experience wishing to participate in Cohort 3. Applications for Cohort 4 will open in Semester 2, 2025.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Applicants must be permanent teachers or school-based middle leaders with the Queensland Department of Education.
- Applicants must possess full registration with the QLD College of Teachers.
