Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.

About the opportunity:

Position: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker - Team Leader (Identified) 

Vacancy: Permanent full-time

Location: Cultural Assessment and Liaison Team, Mental Health Service Group, Townsville

As a member of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Assessment Engagement Service management team provide strategic direction and leadership to the Mental Health Service group to ensure the provision of clinical services are culturally informed, strengths focussed, safe and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.

Enjoy a generous remuneration package valued up to $132,567 p.a., including:

  • Salary range: $98,555 to $116,189 p.a. (HWF4)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • Diploma in
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or;
    • Diploma or Mental Health or
    • Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
