As a casual Disability Support Worker, you are easy to get along with, enthusiastic, sensitive to the needs of others, flexible, positive, a great communicator and able to be a team player as well as work autonomously. You share a passion for supporting people with an intellectual disability to live a life as independently as possible. You ensure your participants’ emotional, social, financial, and physical well-being needs are supported to a high standard and living their best lives.

You live in Townsville, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Redcliffe, Nundah, Oxley, Ipswich and Toowoomba. Our support workers, known as Residential Care Officers, enrich clients' lives by ensuring they have the opportunity and support, tailored to their individual needs, to explore and participate in all aspects of their life.

Our services include support for independent living (accommodation support) and short-term accommodation support (centre-based respite).

We have a focus on ensuring our diverse staff are well-trained and qualified and we pride ourselves on our reputation of delivering the best in disability support services.

Our Disability Support Workers have the following opportunities:

• Award wages that include shift allowances, penalties, and other allowances such as meals and clothing as they apply under the Award for Operational Employees in Disability and Forensic Services - State 2016
• Flexible shifts

What would my day look like as a Disability Support Worker?

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Performing daily household tasks with participants that can include menu planning, cooking, and serving meals, cleaning, shopping, laundry, bed making and light garden activities
• Assisting participants to maintain relationships with their family, friends, and advocates
• Helping participants develop and maintain personal independence within their home with personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, showering and safe and enjoyable mealtimes
• Assisting participants in their personal and health care by providing support with medication ensuring correct dosages as prescribed, seizure response, and health needs
