Enrolled Nurse - Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service

The Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS) aims to provide short term assessment and treatment services for people experiencing episodes of mental illness. The core business of MHAIS is to provide multidisciplinary specialist assessment, collaborative treatment: evidence based, best practice and skilled clinical interventions, clinical reviews, and discharge planning within a safe, therapeutic and consumer friendly environment. The focus of care is trauma informed, person centred with an emphasis on building resilience through the use the multidisciplinary therapeutic engagement, sensory modulation and spaces, shared responsibility for recovery, a partnership orientation between the consumer, carer, families and clinicians, and development or enhancement of current community networks supports.

About the role
The Enrolled Nurse (EN with Endorsement) supports a registered nurse in the provision of person and family centred, quality, safe patient care specified by the standards of practice and registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). This care will be evidenced by educational preparation, adhering to relevant legislation and context of care.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrates ability to provide excellent consumer and family centred care to the patients within West Moreton Hospital and Health service informed by best practice, evidence-based principles, and within the standards of practice for an Enrolled Nurse.
- Demonstrates experience in medication administration and the ability to monitor physical co-morbidity for consumers with mental health problems.
- Consistently delivers a high level of service to mental health consumers, demonstrating rapport building skills, listening skills and empathy.
- Willing to take instructions and guidance from others and willing to help and support others to contribute to the successful functioning of the team.
- Demonstrates self-management skills, a commitment to nursing and flexibility to adapt to unexpected changes.
- Consistent delivery of a high level of services to consumers, caregivers and families, demonstrating rapport building skills, listening skills and empathy.
- High level of communication skills and ability to escalate issues to a Registered Nurse.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
