The Department of Education are seeking experienced Principal Advisor, Speech Language Pathology to contribute to a progressive, high performing education system that raises the potential for every student.

This role is offered on a temporary part-time basis at 0.9 FTE and 68.4 hours per fortnight, until 31 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About the Department of Education

The Queensland Department of Education's speech language pathology services support schools to remove or reduce barriers to student attendance, participation and learning, by supporting schools to identify and implement reasonable adjustments. Through a whole school approach to supporting student learning, the service assists schools to build student's communication, language and learning, including literacy skills.

You will provide strategic advice on policy development and implementation related to the speech language pathology services of your team.

You will participate as a member of a state wide team contributing to the development of state wide programs, policies, operational standards and procedures to support speech language pathology services throughout the state.

You will report to the Director, Therapies and Nursing.

This temporary Senior Advisor Speech Language Pathology role will:

  • provide supervision to speech language pathologists and senior speech language pathologists providing services in schools within a whole school approach, including those providing services through flexible engagement (telepractice, face to face and a hybrid approach)
  • participate as a member of a state wide team contributing to the development of state wide programs, policies, operational standards and procedures including:
  • service delivery guidelines;
  • evidence informed capability development; and
  • measuring impact of services.

About You

  • Very high level of knowledge (or the ability to quickly acquire high level knowledge) of speech language pathology services in an educational context
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work across a number of multidisciplinary teams
  • The ability to lead and manage a team working across a range of geographically diverse locations in an environment of complexity and ambiguity
  • The ability to think laterally, and identify, implement and promote improved evidence-informed speech language pathology services within an educational context.
